Physics
Dr Rajesh Kumar hails from Purnea, Bihar from where he has done his schooling also. He has done M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Physics from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 2004 and 2009 respectively. He is serving IIT Indore as an Assistant Professor in Physics department from May 2012. Broadly he works in the field of experimental solid state Physics. His field of specialization is Raman and Photoluminescence spectroscopy. During Ph.D., he studied the different microscopic properties of semicocndutor nanostructures using Raman Spectroscopy.

Before joining IIT Indore, Dr. Kumar was working as Post Doctoral Fellow at National Institute for Nanotechnology (NINT) in University of Alberta, Canada. His post doctoral research work involved the evaluation of molecular electronics junctions consisting of organic monolayers on carbon, silicon and metal substrates. In addition to junction fabrication, he is also involved in a variety of electronic and spectroscopic diagnostics of junction structure and performance, with the long-term goal of understanding electron transfer in organic nanostructure junctions. He is actively involved in realization of conducting polymer based memory devices. He also works to use semiconductor (mainly Silicon) as one of the components in a molecular tunnel devices.

Apart from his interest in Science and Technology, he writes articles in blogs and magazines for science popularization and Hindi literature.
