Dr. Ayan Mondal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore, India. Prior to this, he worked as a Research Engineer at Univ Rennes, Inria, CNRS, IRISA, France. He was also a Visiting Professor at the Centre for Wireless Communications - Networks and Systems, University of Oulu, Finland, in 2023. He earned his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kharagpur, India, in 2020. He was a visiting researcher at Inria, Rennes, France, in 2019. He completed his M.S. (by Research) degree from the IIT Kharagpur, India, in 2015. He received his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from West Bengal University of Technology, India, in 2012. His research works are published in prestigious IEEE Transactions, Journals, and conferences such as IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing, IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Computing, IEEE Transactions on Green Communications and Networking, IEEE Systems Journal, IEEE Internet of Things Journal , IEEE ICC, and IEEE GLOBECOM. Dr. Mondal also served as a reviewer in several prestigious IEEE/ACM Transactions, Journals, and Conferences. He received the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Research Fellowship (India) and IEEE TCSC Outstanding Ph.D. Dissertation Award in 2016 and 2022, respectively. Previously, Dr. Mondal chaired many workshops at different conferences, including IEEE ICC, IEEE GLOBECOM, IEEE INFOCOM, IEEE HPSR, and ACM/IEEE CCGrid. He is an IEEE Senior Member and ACM Professional Member.
The current research interests of his group, Next-Generation Networking, Services, and Technologies (NEST) Research Group, include algorithm design for intelligent edge cloud, next-generation networks, and the Internet of Things (IoT). He is a former member of Myriads research team at INRIA, Rennes, France, and Smart Wireless Applications & Networking (SWAN) Research Group, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
