Biswarup Pathak

Dr. Biswarup Pathak is a distinguished Professor in the Department of Chemistry at IIT Indore, India, where he leads the Computational Materials Designing Research Group. His research focuses on computational modeling of nanomaterials, particularly nanoclusters, for applications in catalysis, energy, and biological sciences, including DNA sequencing. Dr. Pathak has made significant contributions to his field, with over 200 papers published in prestigious international journals such as Journal of American Chemical Society (JACS), Angew. Chem. Int. Ed, Nature Communications, Nano Letters, and ACS Nano. He has amassed more than 7000 citations according to Google Scholar, with an H-index of 46 and i-index of 170. His outstanding research has been recognized globally. He was among the top 5% of authors with the highest citations in Royal Society of Chemistry journals for 2019 and 2020. Dr. Pathak received the Wenner-Gren Postdoctoral fellowship for innovative research in DNA sequencing and was honored with the Early and Mid-Career Research Award by the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) in 2017. He has also been awarded the IIT Indore Best Researcher Award in 2016, 2023 and 2024. Dr. Pathak has secured numerous national and international grants totaling over 5.5 crores, supporting his work on nanomaterials for catalysis and energy applications from organizations like DST, SERB, MHRD, VR-Sweden, DUO, and INSA. His excellence in research has been further acknowledged with the SPARC MHRD grant award for international collaboration and the DUO-India Professor Fellowship Award in 2020. He is a sought-after speaker, having delivered more than 65 invited talks at various national and international forums. Dr. Pathak's contributions were highlighted on the cover page of the Journal of Physical Chemistry Young Scientist Issue in 2019 and recognized by the American Chemical Society as one of the most impactful researchers from India in 2021. Recently, Dr. Pathak was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) by the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK, and received the CRSI Bronze Medal and MRSI Medal for his significant contributions to chemical science. His achievements underscore his leadership and influence in the field of computational materials science and chemistry.
