Hybrid Nanodevice Research Group (HNRG) led by Dr. Shaibal Mukherjee in Electrical Engineering explores new physics of micro-
and nano-structured materials, and to apply this knowledge to realizing advanced tools and devices for chemical, biological,
optical, electronic, and energy applications. 5-6 PhD positions are vacant in our research group and preferably fellowship
holders will be encouraged to join HNRG. In the current student recruitment process, preference will be given to candidates who have backgrounds in Chemistry,
Biology, Physics, and Materials Science.
HNRG has been actively involved in the cutting-edge research activities in the fields of Nano-photonics, Nano-bio Hybrid Electronics,
Photovoltaics, Plasmonic-based Biosensors, Non Volatile Memory Devices, and Transistors.
HNRG has been actively involved in the cutting-edge collaborative research activities with eminent researchers, scientists, and experts
from industries and institutions in India and abroad. Some of these Indian institutions and industries are IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay,
CEERI Pilani, RRCAT, and M/s. Fourvac Technologies. Some of these foreign institutions are RMIT (Australia), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (USA),
University of Oklahoma (USA), Novosibirsk State University (Russia), Shinshu University (Japan), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany), and
M/s. Elettrorava spa (Italy).
Students after receiving PhD degree from HNRG are successfully placed in faculty positions in IIT Patna, IIT Ropar, NIT Warangal and
in post-doctoral researcher position in University of Minnesota, USA.
HNRG is a multidisciplinary research group and its research and development activities involve various aspects of chemistry,
physics, biological sciences, materials sciences, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering.
Bright and inspired candidates, having a background in Physics/ Chemistry/ Biology/ Materials Science/ Electronics/ Electrical
Sciences/ Electrical Engineering/ Instrumentation/ equivalent are ideally suitable for and thus strongly encouraged to
apply to Hybrid Nanodevice Research Group led by Dr. Shaibal Mukherjee. Candidates with strong analytical, quantitative, and Computer
Programming skills are desired. Candidates with CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF/INSPIRE/equivalent fellowship holders will be given preference to pursue PhD
research work with HNRG. Fellowship holders may apply to me any time of the year. They are even encouraged to visit my lab/office for
further discussions.
Candidates interested to pursue PhD, especially with CSIR/UGC JRF or DST INSPIRE fellowship are strongly encouraged to send
their detailed resume/CV to me at shaibal[at]iiti.ac.in.
Candidates are advised to apply for National Postdoctoral fellowship or equivalent fellowship
to pursue postdoctoral research work with my research group. 4-5 postdoctoral positions will be filled this year. Candidates with PhD in Chemistry and Physics may also apply.
